DahlStyle Says: How to Wear Your Skinnies

Yup skinnies are going nowhere soon.  Lately I’ve had a number of clients who ask me, “Can I wear a skinny jean?” and my response is always YES! It’s just HOW you wear them that’s important. Here are just a few examples of what to wear for a few different body types.

Pear/Triangle Shaped:

If you’ve got some curve to your hips and a thicker ankle then wear your skinnies with a great structured jacket like this KUT Moto Jacket. It will help balance out your figure.  And if you wear a boot or bootie keep them close to your body, and skinny at your ankles, no boxy boots or shorties that stop at the widest part of your calf muscle. You want to show off your curves but create balance. These Sanctuary Clothing Charmer Cords will do the trick.

 Round/Apple Shaped:

If you carry most of your weight in your mid section and have skinny great legs then show then camouflage the mid and show off your legs!!!  This Sanctuary Clothing blouse has a great shaped hemline that will compliment your shape while falling loose over your mid section (skimming).  And I’m kind of OBSESSED with these Paige Skinny Jeans in wax coated denim. They are so contemporary but can be so neutral! I wear mine with sweatshirts as well as blouses.  The shoes you choose to wear should continue to compliment the shape of your legs and not be bulky or chunky…you are what you wear.

Short Body/Long Legs:

Do you have legs for days but a short waist and body?  Tunics are great to elongate the upper body and you’ve got the leg real estate to wear this Bobi Clothing tunic over denim. And yes, because I’m obsessed with the Paige Premium Wax Coated denim, we paired this outfit with them as well. Sue me:) But buy them first!

Straight/Boy Shaped:

Those of you that were born without any curvy shape…wear just that..shape!  Cross body top like this one from Bobi Clothing can not only compliment a curvy figure but it can create shape for someone who wasn’t born with feminine curves.  The ‘peek-a-boo’ leopard Niki Biki tank that pops out under the blouse also creates visual shape at the hips.  And don’t be afraid to POP a color in your pants. These Genetic Denim Liam jeans really add interest and style to this outfit.
