I don’t know about you guys, but it seems like every year when the cold weather hits my lips just rebel, becoming cracked and chapped. Hate it! So when I found this lovely little recipe for an all-natural, suuuper easy-to-make DIY lip scrub I was over the moon! I love lip scrubs, as they make your pucker nice and smooth, but I usually have to go out and buy them. This I can make in literally 5 minutes with 3 common household ingredients!
Alrighty, so what you’re going to need it:
- Pure coconut oil (I was able to find this at Fred Meyers for around $6)
- Brown sugar
- a teaspoon
- a tablespoon
- a little mixing bowl
So, for step one you’re gonna want to get a nice round tablespoon of your coconut oil and place it in the mixing bowl. If it’s too hard to scoop, like mine was, place the container into a bowl of warm water for 5 or so minutes and it should be softer. Next get yourself a tablespoon of honey and add that to the coconut oil.
Mix your oil and honey together until it is a nice and smooth. This is the base for your scrub and should be clump free, so smoosh all the lumps out.
Once you mixed those together and they are lump-free you are going to measure out two teaspoons of brown sugar and add them to the concoction. Mix the brown sugar into the base and test it out. If you like the amount of scrub then you’re finished! If you didn’t, you can always add more brown sugar (I added 3 teaspoons, cause I liked it a little scrubbier… if that’s a word).
Now this was just a batch for myself, so I put my final product in a small Tupperware container. However, for the moms out their, the 2.5 oz baby food jars will work PERFECTLY! Mark those with cute little labels and voila! You have a prefect stocking stuffer gift that not only tastes delicious and smoothes and heals your chapped lips, but also gives them that pouty, plump smooch.
